What to Expect

Many of our patients tell us they have never before experienced such a thorough eye examination. In order to be so complete, we ask that you allow about 90 minutes for your first visit. Upon entering the office, we must complete the registration process (please download our forms and bring them with you) including verifying personal information and insurance coverage (be sure to bring your cards).

Once this is complete, we use the latest computer assisted automated instrumentation to begin the examination process to accurately obtain your best vision.

A comprehensive history will be conducted to determine if past family, health or ocular problems need to be addressed.

This will include a complete review of present health problems and current medications so we can watch for potential ocular side effects. Please bring a list of all your current medications with you to your visit.

To fully assess the health of your eyes, we must dilate your pupils. The drops allow us to view the entire inside of your eyes to look for potential problems such as retinal tears and glaucoma. Some people report that the drops temporarily blur their vision and make them very light sensitive.

For these reasons it is suggested that you bring a driver and some sunglasses for your trip home.
