Dr. Houghton joined Watson Eye Associates in June of 2007. She is a retina specialist and assistant professor of Opthalmology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

After graduating as an Honor Graduate in medicine at the Medical School of South Carolina, Dr. Houghton completed an internship at Duke University Department of Internal Medicine followed by a residency in Opthalmology at the Kellogg Eye Center. She then completed a fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the vitreous and retina.

Dr. Houghton's clinical interests include retinal detachments, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, ocular trauma and uveitis.
